Situated on the Jangli Maharaj Road in Pune  , Pataleshwar Cave Temple is enshrined by Lord Pataleshwar - the God of the Underworld, who is a form of Lord Shiva . Carved out of a single magnanimous rock, this spellbinding monolithic find is located right in the heart of the city and is a revered Hindu shrine which is thronged by hundreds of devotees and pilgrims on an everyday basis. What is more, the temple has an exuberant architecture with elaborate carvings on the walls and miniature paintings. भटक्यांच्या वाटेवरचा तिकोना ! मुंबई-पुणे हमरस्त्यावरुन दिसणारे लोहगड आणि विसापूर किल्ले आपल्याला सर्वांना माहीत आहेत. याच किल्ल्यांच्या मागील बाजूस पवनमाळ प्रांतात असणाऱ्या तिकोना ऊर्फ वितंडगड याची आपण ओळख करून घेऊया. लोहगड आणि विसापूरच्या किल्ल्याच्या मागे हा किल्ला असल्याने थेट नजरेस पडत नाही. सध्याच्या द्रुतगति महामार्गावरून मात्र हा किल्ला सहज दृष्टीक्षेपात येतो. बोरघाट चढून गेल्यावर माथ्यावर कार्ले, भाजे, बेडसे, भंडारा आणि शेलारवाडी ही लेणी आहेत. या लेण्यांच्या सुरक्षिततेसाठी उभारलेले किल्ले म्हणजे लोहगड, विसापूर, तुंग आणि तिकोना. प्राचीन बंदराना घाटमाथ्याशी जोडणाऱ्या अनेक घाटवाटा या परिसरात आहेत त्यामुळे यावर वचक ठेवण्यासाठी या दुर्गांची निर्मीती केली होती. साधरणतः या परिसरातील लेणी ही बौद्ध आणि हिनयान पद्धतीची असल्यामुळे हे सर्व किल्ले ८०० ते १००० या काळात बांधलेले असावेत. इतिहास इ.स. १५८५ च्या सुमारास निजामशाहीचा सरदार मलिक अहमद निजामशहा याने हा किल्ला जिंकला आणि किल्ला निजामशाहीत सामील झाला. या गडाबद्दलचा इतिहास फारसा कुठेही उपलब्ध न
