या ऐतिहासिक वास्तूचे मूळ मालका राजा राजेंद्र शितोळराजा या सिसोदिया राजघराण्यातील वंशज आहेत. हे घराणे सुमारे बाराशे वर्षापूर्वी उत्तरेकडून येऊन स्थानिक झालेत, अनेक शतके त्यांची देशमुखीचे अखंडित हक्क होते. पुणे परिसरातील पाषाण, लवळे, हडपसर, वानवडी, मांजरी, मोशी यासारख्या सुमारे साडेतीनशे गावांचे ते इनामदार होते. आज २१ व्या शतकात देखील त्या-त्या गावातून जमिनींचे मालक म्हणून शितोळे देशमुखांच्या नोंदी आळतात.

पुण्याचा शनिवारवाड्या खालचं भूखंड , ही सरदार शितोळे देशमुखांची शेतजमीन होती. शनिवारवाडा बांधण्यासाठी पेशव्यांना हा भूखंड शितोळे सरकारांनी दिला होता, त्याच्या मोबदल्यात पेशव्यांकडून त्यांना बाणेर व जवळार्जुन येथील जामिनी देण्यात आल्या.

पुढे सरदार शितोळे यांच्या जहागिरी मध्यप्रदेशातील होशंगाबाद, शहाजाबाद, खंडवा, सोनपत, पानिपत, नरवर , उज्जैन, गवाल्हेर इत्यादी जिल्ह्यात आणि महाराष्ट्रातील सातारा, पुणे, अहमदनगर, नाशिक या जिल्हयाबरोबरच खानदेशापर्यंत विस्तारल्या होत्या.

या घराण्यातील व्यक्तीला या वास्तूत नरसिंहाचा दृष्टांत झाला होता. अर्थात नरसिंह देवता या घराण्याचे कुल दैवत आहेत.

The original owner of this historic building is Raja Rajendra Shitol Raja, a descendant of the Sisodia dynasty. These clans came from the north and became local about twelve hundred years ago, and for many centuries they had uninterrupted national rights. He was the rewarder of about 350 villages like Pashan, Lavale, Hadapsar, Wanwadi, Manjari, Moshi in Pune area.  Even today, in the 21st century, the records of Shitole Deshmukh as the owner of land are drawn from those villages.

The land used to built Shaniwarwada in Pune was the agricultural land of Sardar Shitole Deshmukh.  The land was given to the Peshwas by the Shitole government for the construction of Shaniwarwada, in return for which they were granted bail at Baner and Javalarjun.

Later, Sardar Shitole's Jahagiri extended to Hoshangabad, Shahazabad, Khandwa, Sonpat, Panipat, Narwar, Ujjain, Gwalior etc. districts of Madhya Pradesh and to Khandesh along with Satara, Pune, Ahmednagar, Nashik districts of Maharashtra.

A person from this family had a vision of Narasimha in this Vastu.  Hence God Narasimha is the deity of this family.

बुधवार पेठेचा इतिहास , पुणे सन १७०३ मध्ये औरंगजेबाने ही पेठ वसवली. औरंगजेब जेव्हा महाराष्ट्राच्या स्वारीवर होता त्यावेळेस त्याच्या सैन्याचा मुक्काम येथे होता. मुही उत मिलत नावाचा औरंगजेबाचा एक नातू पुण्यात मेला होता त्याच्या स्मरणार्थ म्हणून या पेठेचे नाव औरंगजेबाने मुहीयाबाद असे ठेवले होते. पुण्याचे नाव सुद्धा याच काळात बदलून मुहीयाबाद ठेवण्यात आले. पुढे माधवराव पेशव्यांच्या काळात साधारण सन १७६१ च्या दरम्यान गोविंद श्रीराम खासगीवाले यांच्याकडे या पेठेचे शेटेपण आले आणि त्यांनी या पेठेची पुनर्रचना केली. रस्त्यांचे रुंदीकरण आणि व्यापारी वर्गाला प्रोत्साहन देणे ही कामे खासगीवाले यांनी केली त्यामुळे अल्पावधीतच पुण्यातील एक महत्वाचे व्यापारी केंद्र म्हणून ही पेठ उदयाला आली.  पुढे दुसऱ्या बाजीरावाच्या काळात बुधवार वाडा या पेठेत बांधण्यात आला. नाना फडणीस यांनी बेलबागेत विष्णू मंदिर बांधले. मंदिरांचा मोठा समूह असणारी तुळशीबाग, कोतवाल चावडी आणि तांबडी जोगेश्वरी मंदिर अशी अनेक बांधकामे येथे झाली.  सन १७९५ मध्ये प्रसिद्ध तुळशीबाग मंदिराचे बांधकाम पूर्ण झाले. जवळ ज...
