As I entered inside temple area, I was awestruck by the beauty. The temple is in the middle of a pond with coconut and palm trees everywhere making the whole scene so beautiful. For the next few minutes, I just stood there watching and enjoying the beauty of nature. I could see remarkable temple reflections in the pond. I believe sunrise or sunset is the best time to visit Ramdara Temple if you want to capture some splendid photos. In fact, I should thank the clouds for giving such a dramatic sky.

About the Temple : The main deity of the temple is Lord Shiva. However the beautiful idol of Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Sita and Hanuman inside the main shrine has made the temple well renowned. Outside the main sanctum, you will come across other Hindu deities. There is also a sculptural representation of the Dasha Avatars (10 different forms) of Lord Vishnu inside the temple. The temple was constructed 50 – 60 years ago and resembles modern architecture. The temple is very serene inside. There are beautiful wall paintings and also artistic sculptures representing mythological stories. There is also a Nandi (bull) inside the temple which is a must see.

This temple was established by Late Shree Devipuri Maharaj (Dhundi Baba).

बुधवार पेठेचा इतिहास , पुणे सन १७०३ मध्ये औरंगजेबाने ही पेठ वसवली. औरंगजेब जेव्हा महाराष्ट्राच्या स्वारीवर होता त्यावेळेस त्याच्या सैन्याचा मुक्काम येथे होता. मुही उत मिलत नावाचा औरंगजेबाचा एक नातू पुण्यात मेला होता त्याच्या स्मरणार्थ म्हणून या पेठेचे नाव औरंगजेबाने मुहीयाबाद असे ठेवले होते. पुण्याचे नाव सुद्धा याच काळात बदलून मुहीयाबाद ठेवण्यात आले. पुढे माधवराव पेशव्यांच्या काळात साधारण सन १७६१ च्या दरम्यान गोविंद श्रीराम खासगीवाले यांच्याकडे या पेठेचे शेटेपण आले आणि त्यांनी या पेठेची पुनर्रचना केली. रस्त्यांचे रुंदीकरण आणि व्यापारी वर्गाला प्रोत्साहन देणे ही कामे खासगीवाले यांनी केली त्यामुळे अल्पावधीतच पुण्यातील एक महत्वाचे व्यापारी केंद्र म्हणून ही पेठ उदयाला आली. पुढे दुसऱ्या बाजीरावाच्या काळात बुधवार वाडा या पेठेत बांधण्यात आला. नाना फडणीस यांनी बेलबागेत विष्णू मंदिर बांधले. मंदिरांचा मोठा समूह असणारी तुळशीबाग, कोतवाल चावडी आणि तांबडी जोगेश्वरी मंदिर अशी अनेक बांधकामे येथे झाली. सन १७९५ मध्ये प्रसिद्ध तुळशीबाग मंदिराचे बांधकाम पूर्ण झाले. जवळ ज...

Shree Badaviling Temple, Krishnapura, Hampi ( Karnataka )

Shree Badaviling Temple, Krishnapura, Hampi ( Karnataka ) A huge monolithic Shiva Linga inside a cella, built by the side of the Lakshmi-Narasimha Temple enclosure. The Shiva Linga has a three-eye mark drawn on it in line carving. The three-eye mark depicts the three eyes of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the temple has been in existence since the period of the Vijayanagara Empire. This huge Linga, which is about 5 meters high, is locally called by the name Badaviling or Badavilinga. It is noteworthy that a channel that runs by the side of this shrine is diverted to enter the cella and thus this Linga is made to stand amidst water always. This Linga is situated inside a small stone chamber. There is a single opening in front of the chamber through which devotees can get in.
